Society for Phenomenology and Media
Submission Information for Glimpse
Glimpse is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published annually by the Society for Phenomenology and Media.
Glimpse seeks papers that map theoretical pathways and tackle philosophical dilemmas by exploring all aspects and forms of media, with a focus on media analysis. SPM and hence its publication, Glimpse, encourage attention to a wide range of individual media (visual/multisensory representation in all art forms, including painting and photography, film, television, Internet streams, radio, all digital media, sequential art/comix, books and other print media, textiles, cave art, dance, etc.). Historical and contemporary media, media theory, the philosophy of media, artificial intelligence, social/anti-social media, augmented "reality," and the philosophy of political economy as it applies to media are all relevant topic areas of interest. The media under scrutiny need not be digital, but we encourage reflections on the constraints placed on the media by the digital age. All theoretical and philosophical perspectives are welcome (analytic, linguistic, phenomenological, Marxist, etc.).
All submissions must be original and may not be simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference proceedings. Prepare your manuscripts for a double-blind review by creating a cover page with your name, affiliation, email address, and the title of your paper and by removing all identifiers from the paper and endnotes. Papers not properly formatted will be returned for corrections.
Please submit your paper for consideration for publication in the 2025 issue of SPM’s annual publication, Glimpse, to:
