SBED Conference 2024: Society for Bayesian Methods in Epidemiology and Diagnostics - Conference 2024 COST Association Avenue du Boulevard – Bolwerklaan 21 Brussels, Belgium, January 31-February 2, 2024

We are pleased to announce the 1^st international conference of the Society for Bayesian methods in Epidemioogy and Diagnostics (SBED) on novel methods for disease measurement, scheduled to take place 31 January – 2 February 2024, in the vibrant city of Brussels, Belgium. The event is under the auspices of the HARMONY COST Action, that has been fostering interdisciplinary collaboration of researchers, practitioners, and experts in Health Sciences, including but not limited to epidemiologists, clinicians, veterinarians, psychologists and environmental health experts. 

Conference Highlights

• Keynote presentations by experts in Bayesian modelling
• Parallel basic and advanced hands-on training sessions
• Sessions featuring selected abstract presentations
• Networking opportunities with fellow researchers, practitioners and representatives from EU organizations
• Poster sessions and interactive discussions

List of Topics

We invite abstract submissions on the Action’s objectives:

• Validation of diagnostics
• Estimation of disease prevalence
• Confidence in disease absence – proof of disease freedom models
• Early warning systems for epidemics

Case studies, real-world applications, related methodological advancements as well as software tools, packages and applications in the aforementioned topics are welcome.

Submissions outside these fields are also welcome if they fall within the conference’s theme.

Submission Guidelines

Please submit your abstract for consideration via the submission link.

Abstracts should be no more than 500 words and should include the following:

• Working title of the presentation
• Author(s) names and affiliations
• Information of the person who is going to present (title, full name, email & postal address, contact number)
• Keywords (up to 5)
• Preference indication for the format of your presentation [oral presentation or poster pitch]
• A concise summary of your research (introduction, methods, results, conclusions, figures (up to 2), tables (up to 1))

All submitters will be duly notified regarding the acceptance of their submissions, specifying whether they have been selected for an oral presentation or a poster pitch.

Membership & Financial Support

Membership Fee

The membership fee of the society that includes access to all conference sessions, keynote presentations, networking events, and conference materials is 200 EUR. Upon that, the annual society membership fee is 20 EUR, and it provides members with exclusive benefits, including access to society resources and events throughout the year.

Financial Support

The event is organized under the auspices of the HARMONY COST Action and financial support for the incurred travel, accommodation and meal expenses will be provided. Selected presenters will receive an official invitation from e-COST with detailed information on COST travel reimbursement.

The conference will be held in the premises of COST Association (Avenue du Boulevard – Bolwerklaan 211210 Brussels | Belgium).
