This study aims to understand the fundamental differences and practical implementation of these paradigms in the context of language education. The research method employed is a literature review, utilizing scholarly articles in English from 2013 to 2023 relevant to the theme of differentiated learning. The results reveal fundamental differences in the definitions, historical foundations, key features, technology integration, and educational philosophies of these four approaches. Personalized Learning emphasizes adaptability and customization, while Adaptive Learning utilizes technology to dynamically adjust content. Customized Learning focuses on tailored instructional methods based on student characteristics, and Individualized Instruction emphasizes meeting individual needs. Understanding these differences is crucial for empowering educators, informing policymakers, and inspiring future research in the dynamic field of language education.
